FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
National 4-H Council's 4-H Community ATV Safety Program is
hosting a series of regional workshops on ATV safety. The
purpose of the workshops is to train interested youth-adult
teams on ATV safety and youth development and help
participants develop plans to implement safety programs at the
local level. Workshop time will be dedicated to youth-adult
partnership training, community development strategies, and
developing plans
for local ATV safety programs. In order to carry out the plans
developed at the workshops, teams selected to attend the
workshops may apply for grants to implement local ATV safety
initiatives. The workshops will include an optional hands-on
training component. We anticipate hosting approximately 30 to
40 people at each training workshop.
There will be a total of five ATV safety workshops
throughout the year. Presently, dates and sites have been set
for three workshops. Applications to attend the first workshop
scheduled for March 30 to April 2, 2000, in Lexington,
Kentucky, are due in our office by 5 p.m. Eastern Standard
Time on Friday, March 3, 2000. The second workshop scheduled
for May 4 to 7, 2000, will be held in Egg Harbor Township, New
Jersey. The third workshop scheduled for June 1 to 4, 2000,
will be held in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Applications to
attend the second or third workshop must be submitted to our
office no later than 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on April 3,
2000. You can obtain an application by calling the contact
person listed above or through our website at www.atv-youth.org.
National 4-H Council will pay all lodging and on-site costs
for those applicants selected to attend the workshops.
Participants are responsible for their transportation costs to
