Polaris Revolver Concept
Featured in North American International Auto
Show Michelin Challenge Design™ Exhibit
Minneapolis, January 3, 2006 – Polaris
Industries today announced the award-winning
Polaris Revolver concept will be on display at
the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS),
as part of the Michelin Challenge Design™
exhibit.
Michelin North America, Inc. created the
annual Michelin Challenge Design™ to celebrate,
promote, publicize and give visibility to
original creative thinking and innovation in
vehicle design. Michelin offers the challenge to
designers around the world, individuals and
small and large companies, to enthusiastically
create, bring forward and display, significant
design work that would normally not have an
opportunity to be shown at a major auto show.
“Polaris is pleased to have the Revolver as
part of the Michelin Challenge Design™ display,”
said Gary Laskin, product manager for the ATV
Division at Polaris. “The Michelin brand tires
on this vehicle are a key design element that
enhances the concept’s on-road performance and
fits with Michelin’s ‘Safety for Everyone’ theme
for the competition.”
Originally designed for the European market,
the Revolver concept was created to propose a
new solution. Many of the ATVs sold in Europe
are homologated for on-road use as “quadricycles.”
Virtually all of today’s active, street-legal,
homologated quadricycles are off-road vehicles
that have been adapted for on-road use. The
Revolver concept is a purpose-built vehicle
designed to deliver both off-road performance
and a new level of on-road capability.
Revolver provides an awesome new driving
experience with an uncommonly urban edge of
sharp, aggressive attitude. The design of the
Revolver includes such appointments as supple
Italian leather seating, low-profile “floating”
fender designs, modular deep-dish alloy wheels
and stunning “light ring” headlights. In
addition, a state-of-the-art iPod® entertainment
system keeps driver and passenger in tune. Every
sculpted detail works in concert with one
another to create a look and feel that reflects
the unheard of experience and attitude this
vehicle provides.
Other Revolver features include:
- A powerful 500cc liquid-cooled 4-valve engine
- Five-speed transmission, disc brakes and
massive, beefy, Michelin tires that that deliver
the maximum amount of mobility – both on- and
off-road
- A heavy-duty suspension with a radically lowered
and widened stance result in superior cornering
maneuvers on all types of terrain
- Hydraulic steering dampener and long wheelbase
increases stability on all surfaces
- Designed for two riders
The Revolver concept made its International
debut at the Paris Motorcycle Show in November
2005. The Motorcycle Design Association
nominated the Revolver as one of eight vehicles
to be considered for their “Best of Show” award.
