2009 Thundercat 1000 H2 SE
Eats the Competition for Breakfast

Thundercat Silver

Thundercat Rear |
Warning: The following machine is not for the
timid of throttle. The Thundercat 1000 is
dedicated to delivering massive amounts of
power, on top of massive amounts of performance.
The 1000 lays claim to the sports largest
displacement machine in the industry.
Designed and manufactured by Arctic Cat, the
H2 engine is a V-Twin, SOHC, liquid cooled,
951cc, Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) four
stroke, built for massive torque and serious arm
stretching power. Arctic Cat engineers crafted
this torque-tuned motor for ultimate
acceleration. The hemispherical-shaped heads
create more complete, more efficient combustion
for performance-winning power.
Just like the automotive industry, the EFI
delivers consistent performance in all
conditions and temperatures automatically.
Instant cold starting, optimized performance
regardless of elevation or temperature and
better fuel mileage are the biggest benefits
applied to the Thundercat.
Like other Arctic Cat full size ATVs, the
Thundercat features a forward-located air intake
snorkel that reduces engine sound to the rider
while decreasing the chance for water or dirt
ingestion. Likewise, the Duramatic automatic
transmission (with high/low range), both add
versatility and riding ease in all conditions.
Added flexibility comes courtesy of the
push-button 2wd/4wd system with an all-new
electronic front locking differential that is
controlled via a push-button rocker switch on
the gauge pod. This allows the rider to switch
from rear wheel drive to limited-slip four-wheel
drive or full-time 4wd depending on conditions
and desire.
Performance-Tuned Chassis
The Thundercat H2 powers a performance-tuned
chassis that is agile and durable, but is more
accommodating for a variety of rider sizes. To
start with, the seat has been lowered over an
inch, combined with an equally ergonomic
friendly handlebar design. These changes seem
minimal, but once you sit down, you definitely
get the feeling of riding In the machine
instead of On it.
The stance and suspension were race-bred and
performance-calibrated with additional ride-in.
What is ride-in? When you sit on the Thundercat
H2, it will squat roughly 2 inches (depending on
rider size) while maintaining Arctic Cats class
leading 11 of ground clearance and 10 of
suspension travel. The lower ride height and
center of gravity inspire riding confidence in
aggressive cornering and high speed handling.
All that new found horsepower needs to be
harnessed, so the engineering staff, lengthened
the wheelbase by 2 for optimized cornering and
high speed handling.
Other impressive specifications apply to the
aesthetics of the Thundercat. One cant help but
notice the vibrant Competition Silver Metallic
painted fenders that can be waxed and buffed.
Engine covers conceal the engine, direct sound
away from the machine and overall improve the
sight lines. The SpeedRack has a slim,
body-hugging appearance with 100/200-lb. rack
capacities front/rear. To cap off the entire
package, the Thundercat H2 is rolling on an
all-new 12 aluminum wheel wrapped with
aggressive 25 Maxxis 4-Speed tires specifically
designed for the Thundercat.

- The H2 revolution of
hemi-producing power has
dominated with EFI. As you
can imagine, the 1000 H2 EFI
has a powerful 951cc, SOHC,
single-cylinder, liquid-cooled
engine, designed for a wide
torque curve with the
smoothest power delivery via
Electronic Fuel Injection. Cold
weather starting and altitude
changes are no longer
questionable.

Features & Benefits
New for 2009
ENGINE:
951cc, EFI, SOHC 4-stroke, 4-valve, V-twin,
liquid cooled engine
The H in H2 stands for Hemi. The
hemispherical-shaped head creates more complete,
more efficient combustion for
performance-winning
power
An Arctic Cat produced performance engine
built in the state-of-the-art St. Cloud
manufacturing facility
Electronic Fuel Injection aids in perfect
starting no matter what altitude or temperature
changes.
Liquid cooling system with high-capacity
radiator and thermostatically-controlled cooling
fan provides consistent engine operating
temperatures
The Duramatic Automatic Transmission has a
long-life maintenance-free belt that withstands
the harshest of conditions.
CHASSIS/SUSPENSION:
Machined Aluminum Wheels
All new 12 machined aluminum wheel design has
an optimized scrub radius minimizing the rider
steering effort.
Positive Shifting
A new shift detent spring in the lever linkage
allows for improved positive shifting
New Headlight Bulb Sockets
The right-hand headlight bulb sockets have
been redesigned to eliminate the bulb popping
out, decreasing the chance of the headlight
housing
filling with moisture.
Fully Independent Suspension (FIS) How it works
with or without a swaybar
Arctic Cat ATVs have an optional sway bar
available as an accessory purchase through your
authorized dealer. Similar to any off-road 4x4
vehicle, eliminating the sway bar, lets the 10
of front or rear Fully Independent Suspension
articulate through the full range of suspension
travel.
This increased articulation provides full tire
contact in all types of off-camber terrain. The
addition of the sway bar will impact the
traction
capabilities; however, it will enhance flatter
cornering in aggressive trail riding
Performance Tuned Chassis
When you sit on the Thundercat, it will squat
roughly 2 inches (depending on rider size) while
maintaining Arctic Cats class leading 11 of
ground clearance and 10 of suspension travel.
This ride-in calibration lowers center of
gravity for precise cornering
Performance Minded Ergonomics
The seat on the Thundercat has been lowered
approximately one inch to reduce the riders
center of gravity along with giving an improved
sense
of sitting In the machine instead of On it.
Industry Leading Ground Clearance
11 of ground clearance enhances the ability
to navigate through mud or over large rocks,
logs, and other objects encountered in rough
terrain
Large Capacity SpeedRacks
Industry leading weight capacity and overall
cargo carrying surface area allows 100 lb
carrying capacity on the front rack and 200 lbs.
on the
rear
SpeedRack Technology
Allows very quick installation and removal of
a wide variety of Arctic Cat exclusive
accessories without the need for tools, bloody
knuckles or
swearing
SpeedRack and its accessories add value to the
machine and also enhance the efficiency of your
hunting, fishing, farming or utility chores
2-Inch Automotive Style Receiver Hitch
This feature allows the consumer to remove the
hitch from their 2 automotive receiver and
install it into the ATVs receiver hitch
Floating Hydraulic Disc Brakes
Low maintenance, positive stopping power in
either dry or wet conditions
Adjustable Shocks
Set the spring preload (5 rear positions, 5
front positions) on the shocks to tailor the
ride to individual riding styles, terrains and
loads
Electric Shift 2-to 4-Wheel Drive with new
Electric Front Locking Differential
Full-lock front differential transfers engine
torque to both front wheels when selected for
added traction with an all new electronic rocker
switch located on the gauge pod while 4wd/2wd
switch is located on right-side handlebar for
quick, convenient shifting in-and-out of
four-wheel
drive.
Spike Load Dampener
To handle the 1000 H2s enormous power output,
Arctic Cat has engineered a rear differential to
deliver maximum power to the tires with
minimum driveline wear.
