Sportsman MV7
Designed for Combat, This is THE Toughest ATV
Ever Built
Introduced
in 2005, the Sportsman MV7 has received enthusiastic
response from new and repeat ATV owners that require
an extraordinarily tough and hard-working vehicle.
It is equipped to handle virtually anything.
The Sportsman MV7 inherited its tough, hard-working
qualities from the ATV Polaris designed and built
for the U.S. military. That vehicle is now in use
in Iraq and Afghanistan. It hauls heavy loads, operates
in extreme temperatures and maneuvers in unforgiving,
rugged mountain and desert terrain and it can be
dropped into location by helicopter.
The Sportsman MV7 inherited virtually everything
from that military design, including its “drop in
anywhere” toughness. Exclusive Sportsman MV7 components
include:
- A reinforced frame withstands heavy loads
and rough treatment;
- High-capacity, reinforced steel cargo racks
with D-ring tie-downs;
- Cargo capacity of 450 pounds, nearly twice
that of most ATVs;
- Two 2,500-lb winches – one in front, one
in back;
- Goodyear® run-flat tires;
- Two fuel tanks: a 4.75-gallon primary tank
and a 4-gallon auxiliary tank under the rear
rack.
The Sportsman MV7 has Goodyear® EMT (Extended
Mobility Technology) Mud Runner Run Flat tires.
Even after being punctured, these tires are guaranteed
to run for 50 miles at 25 mph with no air pressure.
The tread pattern on the Goodyear EMT provides outstanding
traction on virtually all types of terrain.
The power plant for the Sportsman MV7 is a liquid-cooled
Liberty™ 700 engine. This even-firing parallel twin
provides incredible torque for towing and hauling
heavy loads. It has a broad powerband that allows
the Sportsman MV7 to cruise or tow at impressive
top-end speeds.
To effectively manage the Liberty 700 engine
power, the Sportsman MV7 uses a Polaris Variable
Transmission (PVT). The PVT continually senses engine
speed and vehicle torque load and delivers the proper
amount of power to the drive wheels for every type
of riding situation. This is the industry’s all-time
best-selling automatic transmission and it uses
a durable belt that is backed by a Polaris lifetime
limited warranty.
Traction is delivered by Polaris’ industry-leading
On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD). Activated by a
handlebar-mounted thumb switch, the Polaris AWD
system monitors the traction of the rear drive wheels.
When the system senses a rear wheel is losing traction,
it instantly and automatically engages both front
wheels to provide full torque to all four wheels.
Power is delivered to all four wheels by four-wheel
independent shaft drive. The system reverts back
to 2WD automatically when AWD is no longer needed.
The Sportsman MV7 suspension is uniquely built
to handle rough use and heavy loads. In front is
a beefed-up MacPherson strut front suspension with
8.2 inches of travel. In back is a fortified version
of the industry-leading long-travel Polaris Independent
Rear Suspension (IRS) with 9 inches of travel and
10.25 inches ground clearance.
When hauling, towing, climbing or running in
AWD, the Sportsman MV7 ride is kept smooth with
double off-set joint (DOJ) half-shafts that reduce
vibration. Polaris Engine Braking System (EBS) is
standard on the Sportsman MV7 and assists in braking
on steep inclines.
Sportsman MV7 is equipped with additional premium
features, including:
- Clear high-beam headlights with reflector
optics that cast a bright, wide beam;
- Extra-tough floorboards;
- Single-lever, all-wheel hydraulic disc brakes;
- Drum shift with a simple inline shift pattern
for easy movement between High, Low, Neutral
and Reverse.
The
Sportsman MV7 is available in Military Green.
Polaris reserves the right to change specifications
at any time without incurring obligations.
