Lands
Alamogordo, New Mexico
Red sands riding area, 5 miles wide by
15 miles long offering wide variety of dunes and trail
riding. Lots of whooped-out trails and normally dry
riverbeds. High desert area.
Winter riding excellent, summer riding early am okay,
then head for Lincoln National Forest 30 miles away to
enjoy hundreds of miles of Forest Service-approved and
maintained trails. Elevation of red sands area is 4000
ft.; elevation of Lincoln National Forest forest is 9000
ft.
Closet town to both areas is Alamogordo, NM, which is 90
miles north of El Paso, Texas. Spark arrestors are
required at both riding areas.
Red Sands riding area located 25 miles south of
Alamogordo, NM on Hwy 54. Lincoln National Forest is
located 16 miles east of Alamogordo on US 82.
